Having A Heart After God
Two Paths To Follow
Psa 1:1-6 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly. For the LORD watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.
I had a vision of two different paths explained in this Psalm, one was the wide gate that leads to destruction the other the narrow path that leads to life everlasting described in Matthew Chapter 7.
The wide path was a desert, on this path were vultures, scorpions, and snakes. A vulture is a scavenger, a scorpion stings, and a snake bites. These are the type of people that surround those who follow the path of the wicked. A desert is a dry place, with little to no food and water, people on this path are never satisfied, always searching and never finding. Little to nothing grows in a desert, people on this path roam aimlessly going nowhere, lost and seeing nothing but illusions which are never what they seem to appear.
The narrow path is a river full of life, with fruit bearing trees all around it. A river always has a destination, those in the river are always going somewhere. The river is the life of the Spirit, for water represents the Holy Spirit. Those in the river no matter what the circumstances around them continue to bear fruit, love, joy, peace, faithfulness, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. These are the characteristics of the righteous, no matter what they do they prosper.
The question is which path is for you? If we do not cut off those who give us bad advise, who love sin, and gossip, backbite, lie, tear down, we will become them and end our path with them in destruction.
