Identifying The Enemy
THE SPIRIT OF DIVINATION

The bible says the kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force. This scripture is quoted often but I believe very little understood. We as God's children are no longer of this world, we are from up above, the Third Heaven, the place where God dwells. The earth was established from the beginning to be an extension of heaven, it was given to man to be fruitful, multiply, replenish, subdue, and have dominion (Gen 1:28). Satan stole from man the earth by deceiving them in the garden and causing them to sin (Gen 2). Satan now established his kingdom on earth, since he cannot create, he copied and then twisted God's heavenly kingdom and made his own. Are all wise God planned away of redemption and that was through the death and resurrection of His only begotten son, that through believing in Him, we are saved from the penalty of sin, and adopted into God's family, heirs of His kingdom, and now part of His plan to take back what the enemy has stolen, and establish His heavenly kingdom here on earth. Though Satan is defeated he is not going to surrender, we have to now walk in our God given authority and dominion and pull down strongholds and take back violently the land that he has stole.

Two Kingdoms

Again, before we can take the land, we got to know our enemy. We need to know the forces behind the fruit we see, so we can now war in the spirit in prayer, lock target, and see the strongholds before us shot down. We need to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might, and put on the whole armor of God, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but principalities, and powers, and rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ep. 6:10).

Spirit of Divination

The dictionary defines divination as, "the practice of attempting to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge by occult or supernatural means." God's Word goes a step further by showing that people who practice divination are controlled or possessed by supernatural spirits which enable them to receive information beyond the human realm at a particular time.

Act 16:16-18 And as we went to prayer, it happened that a certain girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by divining. The same followed Paul and us and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the Most High God, who are announcing to us the way of salvation. And she did this many days. But being distressed, and turning to the demonic spirit, Paul said, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her! And it came out in that hour.

Many of us are unaware of where the dividing line is between the things of God and Satan's territory. When God's people stray into those areas that appear harmless but in reality are demonic, it creates all kinds of havoc in their spiritual lives.

The Spirit of Divination often makes uses of mechanical props such as sand, bones, entrails of a sacrifice, tea leaves, tarot cards, palm reading, horoscopes, lumps on the head, ouija boards, planchet, crystal balls, occult computer games, so-called healing through charms or magic, levitation, waterwitching, automatic writing, occult literature or objects, hand writing analysis and drugs, etc.

What does God say about these things?

Jer 27:9-10 As for you, do not listen to your prophets, nor to your fortune tellers, nor to your dreamers, nor to your conjurers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon. For they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out and you should perish. 2Ki 17:17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire. And they used divination and incantations, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke Him to anger.

God hates divination because it leads people to seek satanic intelligence for guidance in their lives instead of God and His Word. We cannot mix the guidance of the Holy Spirit with that of Satan without getting into problems. Millions of people in our world are doing just that when they consult their horoscope instead of God's Word for daily direction. The Gallup Poll states one in four adults reads an astrology column regularly and believe their lives are governed by the position of the stars. The survey shows that almost as many church goers as non-churchgoers believe in astrology.

Isa 47:13-15 You are exhausted by your many plans; now let the astrologers stand up and save you, the stargazers, making known what is coming on you into the new moons. Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; there shall not be a coal to warm them; nor fire, to sit before it. So they are to you with whom you labored, your merchants from your youth. Each one wanders to his own way; none shall save you.

FRUIT OF DIVINATION

1. Fortuneteller-Soothsayer (Micah 5:12; Isaiah 2:6)
2. Warlock-Witch, Sorcerer (Exodus 2:18)
3. Stargazer-Zodiak, Horoscopes (Isaiah 47:13; Leviticus 19:26, Jeremiah 10:2)
4. Rebellion (1 Samuel 15:23)
5. Hypnotist-Enchanter ( Deuteronomy 18:11; Isaiah 19:3)
6. Drugs (Gk.-Pharmakos) (Galatians 5:20; Revelations 9:21; 18:23; 21:8; 22:15)
7. Water Witching/Divination (Hosea 4:12)
8. Magic (Exodus 7:11; 8:7; 9:11)

If you have been involved in anyone of these practices and have not renounced them from you life, the spirit of Divination can be attached to your life. The bible says that whatsoever we bind on earth is bound in heaven and whatsoever we loose on earth is loosed in heaven, so right now we bind the spirit of Divination off of our lives, and we loose the Holy Spirit and it's gifts to fill it's place.
